Tewatohnhi’saktha’s role is to facilitate the process of providing relief funds to Kahnawà:ke Businesses from the Kahnawake Economic Relief Measures Fund. The fund is meant to help your business with fixed costs that you may incur while closing or suspending your business operations as a result of this pandemic. Businesses can now make an application for Fit-up and working Capital under the Business Reopening Fund. The fit-up fund is associated with the Covid-19 Task Force Business Safety Requirements to reopen and the Working Capital is for coverage of perishable goods. Applications and relevant documentation are then forwarded to the KERM Board for review and approval. The Business Services Team is responsible to advise the business owners of the decisions of the KERM Board.
To further relieve the financial stress on business owners, Tewatohnhi’saktha has deferred loan payments and waived loan interest for April 2020. Tewatohnhi’saktha will be addressing the need for further deferrals and waiving of interest as the situation regarding the pandemic evolves.
The Business Services Team will be contacting business owners who have applied to complete the application process by phone, email or online (see the online application link below).
If you have no personal income as a result of your business suspension or closure, please contact Mohawk Council Client Based Services (CBS) at (450) 638-0500 to make an application for personal relief funds.
