Career Building Skills

What is the Career Building Skills Program?

The Career Building Skills Program is currently being offered at Tewatohnhi’saktha. The CBS Program is a unique program designed to assist community members who are interested in gaining some valuable career skills that will better prepare them in entering the labour market.

Employers: Contribute to the prosperity of individuals and the community

By participating in the Career Building Skills Program, you will have the opportunity to gain an employee working in your business for six weeks.  The program covers all salary and benefit expenses for the duration of the job placement period, you will only be required to administer the salary.

The requirements for employers are few as compared to the benefits: there is no requirement for a work schedule, only that you provide mentoring to help the individual reach their full potential. Once the Career Building Skills Program is completed the participant will know if your field is ideal for them.

The businesses or organizations chosen as Program Employers will be based on the interests of the participants, therefore, there is no limitation on the industry(ies) being targeted. Simply provide the participant with a suitable work environment, and the tools and supplies they will need to adequately get the job done.

Participants: Building blocks for your career employment and training remain top

Would it help if you could:

  • Better understand your personal priorities, including what type of work would best fit your aspirations and potential skills;
  • Learn more about community resources, organizations and services offered;
  • Gain valuable insight into who you are, Including what motivates you, and identifying potential setbacks and past experiences;
  • Gain a better understanding of Québec’s education system, including day trips to local schools;
  • Get some real on-the-job experience all while earning a salary and practicing various skills learned through the CBS Program,
  • Increase your competence and self-confidence in accomplishing your goals;
  • Get yourself successfully oriented towards training that will lead directly to employment, or help you progress to further educational opportunities for future jobs?

If one or more of these apply to you, and if you seriously do want to help yourself succeed, we have a program specifically geared for you.
