The Training and Development program is designed to assist you in developing professional or vocational skills and to acquire the qualifications you’ll need to find employment in your chosen field.
In order to be approved for funding for vocational or academic upgrading tuition and allowances, you are required to participate in a counseling process with your employment counselor. The vocational training counseling process lasts 60 days*, and the academic upgrading counseling process lasts 30 days*. You must register either 30 or 60 days prior to your course start date.
The counseling process is designed to ensure that you are sure of the field you would like to get into BEFORE your tuition is paid and you begin collecting an allowance, and to be sure that you are aware of your future job prospects once you have completed your training.
Once you have completed the counseling process and your training has been approved, Workforce Development can provide funding for tuition, allowance, childcare, and some supplies and equipment.
