If the professional training that you’re interested in requires high-school credits or a diploma, this program can assist with completing those prerequisites. You have options to choose from including full-time or part-time Adult Education courses.
You can apply for this type of training if you need:
- A high school diploma
- Academic upgrading to meet post-secondary entrance requirements
- Academic upgrading to meet vocational training entrance requirements
- Refresher training for admissions test preparation
How To Apply
A 30-day counseling process before approval to any academic upgrading consists of up to 4 meetings with your employment counselor. The counseling process is designed to ensure that you are sure of the field you would like to get into BEFORE your tuition is paid and you begin collecting an allowance, and to be sure that you are aware of your future job prospects once you have completed your training. Once you have completed the counseling process and your training has been approved, Workforce Development can provide funding for tuition, allowance, childcare, and some supplies and equipment.
*Note: participation in a career exploration program such as the Career Building Skills program MAY satisfy this requirement, and clients can go directly from this program to a training program approved for funding.
