National Training Facility shows interest to operate in Kahnawà:ke

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Kahnawà:ke (Kentenhkó:wa/January 11, 2021)
Tewatohnhi’saktha has contracted PlanIT Consulting to inform and consult the Community regarding a
national training facility known as the North American College of Pharmaceutical Technology (NACPT),
that has indicated their interest to operate in Kahnawà:ke. Part of our new mandate is to market the overall
community, individual properties or sites, or specific programs or policies for the purposes of attraction,
retention, and expansion of businesses. Tewatohnhi’saktha’s role is to research and consult the community
regarding such requests; consultation results would then be forwarded to Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke
for approval or rejection.

NACPT is looking for a facility to house a few classrooms for training opportunities that do not currently
exist in Kahnawà:ke, such as Healthcare, Business & Finance, Hospitality and Tourism and Medical
Cannabis. Tewatohnhi’saktha sees the potential for Community members to attain this training close to
home and potentially receive Certification in these areas.

NACPT is a national brand and is likely to attract English speaking students from the surrounding areas to
attend classes here in Kahnawà:ke; however community members would be given priority. It is expected
that they will operate 3 classrooms (approx.20 students per class). NACPT is seeking a 5 year lease.

Tewatohnhi’saktha is seeking community input for two main reasons:
1) To determine if this non-local business is acceptable to the general population to be located in
Kahnawà:ke within our Business Attraction mandate.
2) To determine a preferred location for the training facilities within Kahnawà:ke.

Although many non-local businesses currently exist in Kahnawà:ke, we wish to consult the Community on
these matters going forward to ensure transparency and accountability as part of our new Business Attraction
mandate. Community consultation will begin January 19th, 2022 by PlanIT Consulting and Communications.
We look forward to receiving your input.
