Indigenous Community Business Fund Applications Finalized
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Kahnawà:ke (Enniskó:wa / March 31, 2021) Tewatohnhi’saktha is pleased to announce that we have finalized the approvals of the $1 million Indigenous Community Business Fund (ICBF) and applicants will be sent letters in the mail by the end of today with their decision and amount they will receive. All applicants who will receive funding will be asked to make an appointment to return on Thursday, April 8 or Friday, April 9 to pick up their cheque and to sign a document. Applicants receiving funding for Technical Assistance, Immediate Active Measures or Growth Opportunities will be required to return receipts as ‘proof of purchase’ for their items within their application by August 31, 2021.
To appeal ICBF funding decisions, please do so in writing by April 30, 2021 by emailing appeals@kedc.biz. All appeals in this regard are heard by a committee of Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke Chiefs.

Growth Measures: $1.676 million requested. Over $366k approved
Passive Measures: $690k requested. Over $258k approved
Immediate Active Measures: $484k requested. Over $221k approved
Technical Assistance: $393k requested. Over $154k approved
Business Structural Measures: $0 requested
“Tewatohnhi’saktha is pleased to see that over 50% of all applications were for Growth Measures, indicating local businesses want to grow their businesses through the pandemic, rather than close and this was a priority of this fund,” said Tammy Delaronde, Director of Business Services. Though no individual amounts will be disclosed, a list of all businesses who received funds will be publicized.
