Tewatohnhi’saktha and MCK say YES to Kahnawà:ke Youth Work Initiative

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Kahnawà:ke (Enníska/February 8, 2022)

Tewatohnhi’saktha and Client Based Services of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke partner on a NEW subsidized employment initiative for youth. The Youth Employment Strategy (YES) program is set to begin in March 2022 and end in late summer with the goal of giving youth an opportunity to gain employment in a mentored environment in a community business or organization.

Kahnawà:ke businesses and organizations are encouraged to apply to this subsidized employment program in the hopes of mentoring a talented Kahnawà:ke youth. Eight (8) youth, clients of Social Assistance,
between ages of 18 – 30 years old will have the opportunity to gain employment for 26-weeks through this program.

Deadline to apply to the program is Friday, February 18, 2022. Please note that priority will be given to businesses and organizations who offer Mandatory Employment Related Costs (MERCs) however, businesses who do not offer MERCs may be considered.

  •  Mentoring plan which outlines job duties

  • What their preferable skill requirements are for the position
