Construction Equipment Operation Program

Tewatohnhi’saktha, in partnership with École des Cèdres, is offering a tuition-covered English cohort for the Construction Equipment Operation DEP. This is an incredible opportunity for individuals in our community to gain hands-on training in operating heavy machinery such as bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, and more.

This program is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to succeed in the construction industry. Spaces are limited to only 8 students, so don’t miss your chance to apply!

 

Program Details:

Program Objective:
This DEP program will provide students with the skills to operate bulldozers, graders, loaders, backhoe loaders, shovels, and compactors, as well as to perform road construction, excavation work, truck loading, and surface leveling.

Location and Facilities:
The program will take place at two main locations:

1. Ste-Justine-de-Newton – 800 Montée Latulipe
2. Site de Les Cèdres – 1587 Chemin St-Dominique

 Schedule:

• March 2025 – November 2025
• Classes run from 1:30 PM – 8:30 PM
• Summer Break in July 2025

*Please note that dates are preliminary and subject to minor adjustments.

 

Participant Benefits

• Tuition: Tuition for the program is fully covered, thanks to our partnership with École des Cèdres.
• Financial Support: Tewatohnhi’saktha provides allowances for eligible participants, including travel reimbursement and coverage for necessary Equipment, Materials, and Supplies (EMS).

 

Eligibility and Application Requirements

To be eligible for this program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Educational Requirements: Completion of Secondary 3 (Grade 9) credits in English, French, and Mathematics.
2. Required Documents:
   • Birth Certificate: Certified copy issued in Quebec.
   • Class 5 Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required.
   • Educational Transcripts: Proof of completion of required educational credits.
   • Optional ASP Construction Card: If you already have this card, provide a copy. If not, you will have the chance to obtain it during the program.
3. Resume: Submit a current resume outlining your work experience and skills relevant to the program.
4. Application Evaluation Questions: Within the application, applicants will also need to answer a few questions to assess their interest in the program, long-term career goals, motivation, and commitment. Thoughtful and detailed responses are essential to the selection process as only 8 students will be chosen.

 

Program Size

This program is limited to 8 students. A full cohort is required for the program to proceed in English. If fewer than 8 eligible applications are received, the cohort will not take place.
