Starting the Holiday off just right!
November 14, 2022

Keep your eyes open for Tewatohnhi’saktha’s Holiday Float!  This year Brandi Meloche is leading the organization’s holiday float planning and preparation. Brandi has extensive experience, having worked on nine floats over the years, with this year’s being her 10th.

The Kahnawà:ke Holiday Parade will take place on November 20th, 2022, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. The parade will once again be coordinated by the Kahnawà:ke Peacekeepers and begin at the Kahnawà:ke Peacekeepers Station continuing down the Old Malone Highway with tons of floats from community organizations made up of various themes to jumpstart the community holiday spirit in Kahnawà:ke.

Kahnawà:ke’s Holiday Parade was created in 2012 as a day parade coordinated by Kahnawà:ke Shakotiia’takehnhas Community Services (KSCS) for approximately three (3) years. Eventually the Kahnawà:ke Peacekeepers took over the coordinating of the parade from KSCS and turned the event into an evening parade to show off all the bright lights and crafty floats. The number of spectators has grown each year, starting with approximately 500 people and now well over 1200+ spectators. Our neighbours from surrounding communities also started attending the event.

Route:

  • Starts at the Peacekeeper station
  • Down Old Malone Highway towards the tunnel
  • Turn left onto River Road by the Bus Station
  • All the way down river road
  • Left up Blind Lady’s Hill
  • Return to Peacekeeper Station
