December 5, 2022

If you are age 15 to 30 you are eligible for the Skills Link Program. The Skills Link Program is a 26-week work measure that allows youth around the community the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and knowledge in a real work environment while getting paid. Tewatohnhi’saktha provides the client with a wage subsidy, coverage of associated MERC’s and payment of Mohawk Self Insurance premiums.

The Skills Link Program not only benefits the youth, but it is also beneficial to the employer. As an employer participating in the program, you have the opportunity to have additional help at no cost to the business or organization.   The client is provided a wage subsidy from Tewatohnhi’skatha

Skills Link Objectives:

  • Wage subsidies for work placements in a mentored environment for youth who are not in school to enable them to develop employability skills and support their educational and career development.
  • Training experiences that support youth in acquiring skills needed for work placements.
  • Support for local businesses with their recruitment needs and succession planning.

The Skills Link Program is a success program offered by Tewatohnhi’saktha as countless clients who have participated in the program finding full-time jobs with the employer that they worked with or making their way back to school. One of the most recent successes from the Skills Link Program is Ravyn Regis who completed her Skills Link Work Placement at LTR Automotive. Since completing her time in the Skills Link Program and her work placement at LTR Automotive, Ravyn recently began working as the Invoicing and Order Clerk at Club Rez, a local wholesaler in Kahnawà:ke.
