Tewatohnhi’saktha announces the launch of the 3rd Cohort of Builders of the Future program
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Kahnawà:ke (Onerahtókha/April 28th, 2025) – Tewatohnhi’saktha is proud to introduce the 3rd of 4 cohorts of Builders of the Future—a program designed to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge in high-demand trades, including Carpentry, Electrical, and Plumbing. This initiative is made possible through $1.4 million in funding from Service Canada, which supports the overall operation of the program.
The program aims to provide participants with practical skills, academic credits, and the experience necessary to enter the workforce or pursue further education in their chosen trade. Upon completing all three modules, participants will engage in a six-week work placement with local contractors, gaining invaluable real-world experience in the field. Spanning a period of 6 months, the program offers approximately 660 hours of training across all three trades. Post-Program Pathways: Successful completion of the program prepares participants to either enter the workforce directly or continue their education to earn a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in their chosen trade.
Since the program’s inception in 2023, 13 students have successfully completed the training. Of these, some students are currently in their work placement, extended their work placements, or returned to school to complete their DEP in Electrical and others exploring their options
The application period for this cohort will open on April 28th and close on June 19th. Interviews will be conducted in early July. Successful candidates will be notified in writing by the end of July.
