7th Annual July Strawberry Food Fest is underway!

Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE- Kahnawà:ke (Ohiarihko:wa/ June 20, 2022.) Kahnawà:ke Tourism will host the 7th ANNUAL Strawberry Food Fest this July! The Strawberry food fest is a collective event, where the theme of strawberries and community culinary creations made with strawberries is promoted throughout the community for the whole month!
The food festivals initiative was created in 2016, to showcase our traditional foods that coincide with our cycle of ceremonies to visitors and community members alike. The Food Fests are a fun, respectful and economically beneficial way in which to share our culture, without disrupting the local environment.

“We saw a need for traditional foods and cultural content in local businesses, this has also been expressed by visitors who are looking for authentic cuisine to sample. Over the past 6 years, Kahnawà:ke has come far in increasing product offering and including the food fests or traditional foods into their menu planning and this is what we had hoped for. The goal is to eventually evolve into weekend long, in person event-based tourism product offering” said Kimberly Cross, Tourism Development Agent.
Multiple Businesses have pre-confirmed their participation. Local businesses are encouraged to join in by calling 450-635-2929 or email info@kahnawaketourism.com

The food fest is part of the overall tourism strategy, and part of the Shop Local, Shop Kahnawà:ke initiatives. To show your support of the food fest use the #strawberryfoodfest2022 and #kahnawaketourism hashtags. Be sure to follow our social media pages for more information about the event.
