Kahnawà:ke Tourism seeking community input

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Kahnawà:ke (Tsothóhrha/December 6, 2021)
Kahnawà:ke Tourism has launched a survey to gather the opinion of residents, regarding further
development of tourism activities in the community.

The survey is just one method that is being implemented as part of a larger consultation effort, to gauge
the sentiments of community members as Tourism develops a 3-year Strategic Plan. Strategic planning
sessions have already taken place with private businesses, organizations, and youth. Public focus groups
will be announced soon.

“The whole point of the consultation is to see where we will go with furthering tourism in Kahnawà:ke;
our goal is to create wealth and economic well-being for our community. The process has to be a
collective effort,” said Kimberly Cross, Tourism Development Agent.

The confidential survey is being administered by local business PlanIt Consulting & Communications,
through December 19th, and takes only about 10 minutes to complete. You can choose to leave your
name and phone number to be entered in a drawing to win a prize, but identifiers will not be associated
with survey answers.

Maris Jacobs, PlanIt representative and survey coordinator explains the process for collecting data.

“We are conducting the survey by telephone with randomly selected individuals, in public kiosks which
will pop up around town, and anyone from the community can contact PlanIt at info@planitkahnawake.ca
to schedule a personal interview.” Lastly, a survey link is posted on the tourism website
www.kahnawaketourism.com for your convenience.
