Tewatohnhi’saktha not proceeding with second Café location at Kanatahkwèn:ke
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Kahnawà:ke[Enníska/February 12, 2026] — Following a duly convened meeting held on February 3, 2026, the Tewatohnhi’saktha Board of Directors has decided that Tóta Ma’s Café will not proceed with the opening of a second location in the new Kanatahkwèn:ke Building.
Tóta Ma’s Café operates as a social enterprise with the primary goal of providing meaningful employment and training opportunities for community members, while also serving as a business incubator and storefront for local businesses and entrepreneurs. As such, we believe it would be best to focus on our efforts and attention on the existing café.
We fully support the opening of a café by a private entrepreneur.
Tewatohnhi’saktha remains a partner within the building through Kahnawà:ke Tourism and we look forward to continuing our support to the Kanatahkwèn:ke building committee and focus on the existing social enterprise.
